GW17 Review

Team of the Week

It’s time we put some serious respect on Ed of Clarkes name. 52 points this week, off of 9 players no less, and a massive scalp in one of the teams of the season and frequent visitor to team of the week VV Brophy. I think the league has been guilty of not appreciating what a good job he is doing this season from 9th pick and maybe getting carried away with the Maverick approach of a certain top spotted Mallia but Clarkey is really showing his worth this season. He currently sits 2nd in the league and looks solid all throughout the positions in his squad, he really is embarrassing the vast majority of the picks before him. This week Pickford 6, White 5, Badiashile 8, Paqueta 14, Watkins 9 and Jackson 6 did the damage and with Billing 1 and Adebayo 5 scores not counted it really could have been worse for Broph.

Match of the Week

Not one of ours but Brentford v Villa. Late comebacks, ex players fronting up to fans after scoring, Maupay and Martinez playing a game of who can be the biggest wet wipe, mass brawls, two red cards, Emery forcibly removing players from the melee and just all round chaos made this an absolute joy to watch. Defo check out the motd highlights if you haven’t already.

Player of the Week

Triple threat dance off between Paqueta (14), Kulu (14), Palmer (14) all playing their part in victories for their respective teams. Lovely stuff and a pretty high scoring round.

Chumps of the Week

Picks 1-6 are this week in the spotlight. I will caveat this with saying Niall is exempt from what comes next as he was 3rd pick but is sitting in 3rd spot so can’t really argue with that although he’s on shaky ground having just lost his league position to Ed. The rest of you ballbags though are a pile of shit. Currently picks 7,8,9 and 10 are holding positions 4th, 1st, 2nd and 6th with Chris in 6th actually on the same points as the team above them but have an inferior GD. Much is made of pick position and the general rule of thumb is the higher the pick the better season you will have but this season has completely turned that on it’s head with the back end boys (it’ll catch on) showing what astute signings and understanding how to pick from a low position can do for you especially when everyone else has seemingly shat the bed. Has the pressure become too much for those picking high up? Did nerves get the better of them or are they actually rubbish at this game and managed to sneak by without expectations because they generally picked lower? Who knows, what we do know though it’s a fucking embarrassment for those early picks to have near on all of the Back End Boys ahead of them and looking like it’s going to take something special to stop their march to a back to front league table.

Dawkins of the Week

Giles? Has the league given up? Giles as a surname? So shit he doesn’t even get in Luton’s squad. How did you even pick him Dev? It’s bad enough picking someone with Giles as a forename but a surname? Get in the sea lad.

Team of the Week Can only be Clarkey really right? Ed oh so nearly broke the 100 mark with a ludicrous score of 98 which actually might be the highest ever, I know we’ve had 97 before but 98? Have we
